Feb 14.Another Valentine's Day.One more year of missed opportunities and failed pursuits. He's already passed twenty one summers and still he has not found The One.He sits in his room -confused and lonesome-trying to forget the significance of the day but the world is a cruel place, it never ceases to make fun of the less fortunate ones(read the failures). He flips through the pages of the newspapers and all that catches his eye are images and articles about love.He throws the newspaper away and tries to relieve the misery by playing a game of Tetris. All of a sudden the air reasonates with the theme song of the '96 James Cameron classic(Titanic);played by some over-enthusiastic 'wing-mate'.He becomes visibly upset this time and reflects upon the
experiences of love that he has gone through in his short, uneventful life.
Love or infatuation as he would like it to be called struck him early. It was the tennis diva Martina Hingis, her bubbly persona and the dimple that first caught his fancy in adolescence. He hoped to be a tennis player and meet the object of his dream someday. But it was only a couple of months before his love evaporated and so did his dream of becoming a tennis player.Since then he has fallen in love over and over again only to be replied by the coldness of the objects of his desire. The fear of rejection has always kept him from expressing his heartfelt feelings towards his 'dream-girl'.He would rather be happy in loving her in the sly than to pour his heart out and be rewarded with rejection. He has heard somewhere that girls like bold guys but somehow the sum total of all his guts does not seem to be enough. When he is infront of her he tries to hide his feelings but somehow his eyes betray him and she knows. But she has no soft corner for him and she dismisses his feelings like a principal dismissing a truant. And so this Romeo bleeds year after year and so on...........
Mind it this is not my story.Pick any MANIT boy and eight times out of ten it would be his.
